Insanity workout Day #2 and #3

Yesterday and today were definitely insane!

Day #2 was the Plyometric Cardio Circuit and this is definitely the toughest one for me.  I have actually tried the insanity workout in bits and pieces and I knew what was coming with this video.  I am excited to stay consistent this time and actually see myself be able to stick with this particular video to the end.  Those down and ups with push ups and sprints in between are killer!  I love where the stretching comes into the workout.  It’s nice to stretch when I feel so warmed up and it also gives me a slight break to gear up for the next part.  The stretch that is a challenge for me is the deep lunge.  I know it is a flexibility thing but it also seems to bother my knees a little bit to go that deep so I just do a regular lunge

Day #3 which was today was the Cardio Power and Resistance

I really felt myself kick into gear today.  It felt good to start my day with a strong workout.  This was not an easy one by any means but I felt that I was able to keep up with it better than yesterday.  I am definitely going to need to improve with those moving push-ups but I have a feeling after 60 days it will be a lot better.

Insanity Workout COMPLETE!

ITS DONE!

I finished the Max Cardio Conditioning and Cardio Abs this morning and I AM DONE WITH THE INSANITY WORKOUT!

(Technically I have the Fit Test tomorrow, but I’ve been skipping the fit tests lately so… Yeah I’m done!)

I am actually really pleased with the results. :)

  • My body looks hecka better.
  • My body FEELS way better.
  • I am in tons better shape.
  • I am stronger.
  • My wife thinks I’m hot… So yeah… the Insanity Workout kicks butt.

All around the Insanity workout was awesome.

I had a chance to talk to a professional fitness trainer who is currently doing the Insanity Workout.  She said that the workout is unlike anything she’s done.

She said its effective and pushes you to your max.

Well I couldn’t agree more.  The Insanity Workout Rocks.

Insanity Workout Reviews – Day 61

Today was my last day of Max Plyometrics!

I’ve told you guys all about that post… So I don’t need to cover that here, but I will tell you that I am pumped that tomorrow is my last day.

I’m going to do the final workout in the morning … take some “after” photos… run some electric wire into my two daughters rooms so I can install some in the wall heaters for them… put together a little colloge of the pics and post them up.

Cool Beans?  Cool Beans.

By the way.  Thanks for all the great comments and encouragement throughout this workout.  You guys are awesome.

Insanity Workout Review – Day 60

Day 60!  Awesome!

You’d think that because it says its a 60 day workout I’d be done right?

Well not quite.  Its actually a 63 day workout.  Its 9 Weeks, which does not equal 60… but 63.  (see what a nice guy I am… you come to read about the Insanity Workout and I teach you a math lesson… Geez!)

Today was the Core Cardio and Balance Workout.

By now you know that Thursdays ROCK because they are the Recovery Day for the week… so the workouts are not quite as hard… well not as hard in the cardio realm.

You probably also know my Insanity Definition of “Recovery” by now.

Insanity Recovery = “Hi I’m Shaun T and I’m Going to Lite Your Muscles on Fire.”

So its not like the recovery days are easy… but they are easier.  So with that said… today was a good workout.

My strength has returned in full and I feel great.

Insanity Workout Review – Day 59

Max Interval Circuit

Today I felt soooo much better.  I was able to push myself and work hard through the workout.

Unlike yesterday when I felt like a total wus man.

I gotta tell you… Coming to the last few days of this workout really puts a smile on my face. (your thinking my smile is because I am finally finished with it insanity huh?)

Well… not quite. (okay, okay… a little, but that is the second smile.)  You see when you set out to do a workout like this and you are on day 3 it seems like you are NEVER going to finish.

And a lot of people… well… don’t finish.  I’ve been there.  I started the P90X and the Chalean Extreme and didn’t finish either one of those. I got to about week 2 or week 4 and started missing a workout here and there.  Then within another weeks time I miss all the workouts.

But accomplishing a workout like this means I can hold my head high.

Finishing a 63 day workout, 1 hour a day, 6 days a week, only missing a few days is AWESOME (for ANYONE)!  I’ve never worked out this much and this consistent.

You may not think its that big a deal, but for me its a great accomplishment.

If you are like me… you should honestly consider pushing through all the way to the end.

Its a weird thing that makes you feel even better about yourself.  Yeah you get the benefit of getting yourself in great shaping, losing weight, shaping your body, getting healthier, but the accomplishment of such a difficult workout brings a deeper satisfaction.

But I can’t get to far ahead of myself… I have a few more days… Then I’m giving away a free Insanity… so get signed up.

So my plan is to do the P90X at the beginning of 2010, start to finish, and blog about it for you here. Cool? cool.

Insanity Workout Nutrition Guide

Today is Max Cardio Conditioning and Cardio Abs

Man I am so happy that I took yesterday off… I still felt so week doing this workout. I’ve been slacking on the workouts lately because I’ve been sick so today was the first time in a week that I decided to really push myself and by the end… ooohhhhhh boy.

You know when you recover from being sick and your body feels week? Like you can’t even lift even small objects? Well that is exactly how I felt at the end of this workout. Week week week.

I couldn’t really even finish strong, but I am so happy to be over the sickness and I know that tomorrow I should be a full strength. At least 95%.

Nutrition: SoI had a guy ask me about the nutrition guide and the tiers of food. So I’d like to break down the nutrition plan a little bit for you guys.

The nutrition guide is pretty sweet.  It gives you actual recepies you can follow and walks you through each meal of the day.  It calls for 5 meals… (which I never quite got the hang of).

Foods are broken down into 5 tiers, tier 1 being the healthiest of foods and tier 5 being the best tasting foods… or I mean the unhealthy foods.  Here are a few examples of the food in the tiers.

  • Tier 1 - The Pious Tier: Air… and your own suliva.  -  Okay for real though… Apples, Beans, Broccoli, Collard greens, Cold Water Fish, Fresh water fish, Mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, watermelon.
  • Tier 2 – The Happy Tier: Bananas, Lean Ground Beef, Skinless Chicken, Corn, Raisins, Sunflower seeds (YEAH!), Tofu, No Sugar Yogurt.
  • Tier 3 – The Swiss Tier: Begals, Crab, Clams, 2% Milk, Top round beef, honey, Iceburg lettuce, plain popcorn, white rice, lean steak.
  • Tier 4 – The Dodgy Tier: Angel food cake, Beer, Chinese food, ham, mac and cheese, meatless pizza, pancakes, sherbet, red and white wines, frozen yogurt.
  • Tier 5 – The Newburg Tier (commonly known as the Tier from Heaven): Bacon (mmm), Chocolate (come on!), Cookies, Cream Cheese, Cinnamon Buns, Jerky, Nachos, Onion Rings, Soft Drinks… MAN I AM GETTING HUNGRY!!!!!  (why does everything so bad have to taste so good.)

I hope that gives you a good idea of what the food tiers exist of.

Insanity Workout Review – Day 57 – Another 200 Push Ups

Max Interval Plyo

Well I have to be honest… I skipped this workout… I’ve been sick for the last 10 days or so and it is just NOT letting go.

I felt really week and I know the intensity of this workout… so I took the day off.

Sometimes you have to know when to say when.

Remember this is the workout that you do nearly 200 push ups. It is quite ridiculous.

So tomorrow I am picking it back up… I’ll let you know how I feel.

Insanity Workout Review – Week 8

Well… First off today is a rest day.

Secondly… It marks the first day of the last week of the workout!

I can’t believe that its already the very last week of the workout. This has been nuts. It has gone by extremely fast.

Thanks to all of you that have been following along with this blog.

After I am done my wife is going to take on the Insanity Workout and share with you as often as she can about how it goes from a woman’s perspective.

Insanity Workou Review – Day 55

HOLY MOLY! Day 55 Are you kidding me.

This is awesome. And today was awesome because its like an extra break day… KINDA.

Its just not as difficult doing the Core Cardio and Balance as the other workouts in this month.

Now if you do the Deluxe version of the Insanity workout you have to switch out this workout for Max Interval Sports Training.

I haven’t done this workout yet, but maybe next week I’ll substitute it in to let you guys know how it is. Sounds difficult.

Well I am off to my wifes cousins wedding. Have a bomb Weekend!
