Happy Valentines Day everyone! I hope all of you who are joining me in this workout had a wonderful day of rest and are ready to hit it hard for Week #3!
I couldn’t quite fit in the workout on Thursday so I did complete Friday and Saturdays workout. For me setting my standard at 5 days a week is what is reasonable right now. My 2 year old has been running a fever and it has made for some long nights.
Doing Cardio Power and Resistance on Friday went really well. I felt that I pushed myself to the end and it led me right into Pure Cardio on Saturday. I couldn’t complete Cardio Abs which was a bummer. I have done the Cardio Abs routine only once before a long time ago and it was tough.
I don’t know about all of you but I am feeling a change in my body. I know that the Fit Test is tomorrow and I am hoping to see some improvement from last time. I will try to post some pictures this week and maybe even get on a scale.
You guys are being quiet out there and I would really love to hear from you. Let me know how it is going.
Hey! So glad I found this site. I am thinking about purchasing Insanity and I wanted a woman’s review on it…on the Insanity TV ad it looked like the guys were getting ripped, but the results didnt look that great for the girls. Obviously we have totally different body types, hormones, etc., but I would still like to see if this can also work for women. I will be following your review and I cant wait to see pics! Question for you though – how do you build muscle if its mainly cardio? Is there weight training also? Thanks!
Hi Jackie,
I am definitely excited to see the changes in myself and yes, I will have to post some pics soon. It’s a little hard to post pics on the internet when I am “in the process” I definitely am not quite looking like one of the girls on the video but what I am doing can’t be hurting right? : ) I know that you can build muscle by doing the push ups and squats etc but you are right about muscle building being more with weights and no, there is no weight training with this. However you can strengthen and tone muscle with cardio work. The muscle strengthening will also help in burning fat. I will keep you posted!
I’m feeling the biggest change in the core. I don’t know if others feel this way…but it’s when I wake up in the morning I go to the bathroom and give my mid-section a *check out*. I feel and see changes there. I’ll measure myself soon and see if I’m losing inches. I hope to see the scale move but I haven’t jumped on it. I will soon though. Today is week 2 day 1 for me. I’m going to go dig deep now and knock it out! Keep it up!
Hi, my wife and I are seriously considering doing “Insanity”. The weight has been slowly piling on over the years, and while I do tread mill, stair master, free weights and wii, nothing seems to work anymore, and I’m getting a bit depressed – I need something to kickstart my fitness and weight loss, and this seems like a winner. Want to make sure its not too much for us; we’re both around 40, not obese, but both maybe 20-30 # overweight. Thoughts?
Hi Jason,
I am excited to hear that you are considering starting the insanity workout with your wife. I totally understand where you are coming from with feeling discouraged about different things you have tried and not seeing results. I think the Insanity workout would be a great choice for a workout. Shaun T. designed this workout for people to go at their own pace. I will say that the pace that they take is pretty insane and will take a lot of work to get there but you will feel so much better even just a week into your workout. there are fit tests every couple of weeks where you do one exercise for a minute and see how many you get and you can see yourself improving.
I did want to share with you that weight loss is actually 80% diet and 20% exercise and keeping the weight off is 20% diet and 80% exercise. I love the insanity package because it comes with a nutrition guide that gives all sorts of meal suggestions including recipes.
If you are unhappy with the product there is always the return policy but I think you and your wife are going to see great results. Keep me posted!
Congratulations for getting this far! I am a couple weeks ahead of you in my “recovery” week. I must admit I am a bit nervous as to what month 2 will bring. I will be sure to follow along with your progress as well. Good luck!
The Insanity Workout Rocks, and so does my beautiful wife! You are doing great hun!
Hi Galadriel!
(Sorry if you had already mentioned it in a previous blog) Thanks!
Thanks so much for your response. Are you using the nutrition guide or whatever its called that comes with it? If so, hows it going? I think that would be harder for me then the workouts!
I am so glad I checked back in here. I was doing GREAT until my husband left town for a few days. Of course that left me with my two boys, and zero motivation to work out at night. I feel like this week is down the tube!!! ugh.
I think I’ll start NEXT monday where I SHOULD have been THIS monday. That doesn’t put me where I want to be, and I’m sure I’ll pay for it by being sore later… but I’m not sure what else I should do.
You’re doing a great job! Keep blogging.
Hi! I stumbled on your blog and I started the workout around the same time as you. I am also a stay at home mom, with a 6 yr old, 4 yr old and 2 yr old. I like to be able to do the workout in the morning, before getting my first grader off to school. I have followed the program exactly and am starting to feel stronger and firmer, but have not lost any weight. I guess I expected after 2 weeks that my jeans should fall off of me, because I have not worked out this hard or consistently in a long time. I was starting to get discouraged, but I am planning to hang in there. I have Cardio recovery tomorrow, but with all those squats, I don’t feel too recovered! So far, so good, though!
I have been reading you and your husband’s post for sometime, and I am at about the same point in the program as you (I started on a Wednesday because I wanted Tuesdays for rest). I have a question- have you noticed your knees or ankles getting sore? I just did the pure cardio and cardio abs and on one of the jumps in cardio abs I really notice my knees. I try to land softly but it is still sore. Just wondering if anyone else has this?
Thanks!
Hello Bonnie,
I am sorry to hear that your knees and ankles have been bothering you. I would evaluate what surface you are working on and what shoes you are wearing. I haven’t noticed problems but I have in the past had random little aches and pains. I would try to minimize the jumps and if it gets to bad maybe ask a doctor or find a workout that won’t be as high impact. let me know what happens, I hope you feel better!
thanks babe!
Hi Jackie,
you know, I have gotten ideas from it but I really have not followed it so far. I will have to really plan it out so I have healthy foods to grab when I start to feel starved! : ) I am trying to at least eliminate the junk this week. I think watching my diet would triple my results but it is so hard!
Hey Raina,
I totally understand, week 3 was kind-of a bust for me but I am just continuing on! We have to do that right?! There will never be a perfect time but we can do it. Good luck!
Hi Megan,
I totally agree that morning is the best but it can be so hard to get up that hour earlier! Good for you in getting it done. I am glad you are not letting the discouragement get to you. It has only been 2 weeks and you are doing great! keep going and I bet you will see awesome results. Have you incorporated in the nutrition plan?
By the way my husband says that Shaun T’s Cardio Recovery is another way of saying ” I am going to light your muscles on fire! ” : )
